British musical trio Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith – otherwise known as The XX – are finally dropping a new album, and have teased its style by unveiling its first track.
The album, dubbed I See You, is set to launch on January 13 – and the group have teased its “outward-looking, open and expansive” approach, with Romy describing “letting [the album] go” for it to land in “everyone else’s hands”.
The aforementioned single is titled On Hold, and we recommend you swiftly give it a listen…
Recorded between March 2014 and August 2016 (everywhere from Reykjavik to Texas), I See You will boast ten tracks – including the curious-sounding numbers Dangerous, I Dare You and Test Me. Previous hits from The XX include instrumental beauty Intro and the very atmospheric Angels.
