His mother is Pamela, who stayed home with him during his childhood. His father is David, a biochemist who worked hard to support his family while they were younger. He is one of three kids. His brother is Edward and his sister is Sophie, and both are older than he. When he was growing up, he kept to himself. He was always interested in his music, and he began working at a Scottish grocery store after his high school graduation so that he could earn money to buy his DJ equipment.
